T-minus 4 Days Til the Elder Street Art Market

Preparations are going well, but I still have lots to do for the up coming Art Market! Tomorrow, and over the next few days I hope to post some previews of what I'm going to be selling at the Elder Street Art Market here in Houston. First I wanted to share the "Why" behind me doing this art market. This video pretty much sums it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IN0W3gjnNE 20% of all the proceeds made at the Art Market will be going to Advent Conspiracy that in turn goes to Living Water … [Read more...]

The Elder Street Art Market!

Yep, mark your calendars for December 7th, 2013 everyone.  I did it!  I just signed up for a booth at the Elder Street Art Market! Every year my church, Ecclesia Houston, hosts an Art Market at the beginning of December and 20% of all of vendor's profits go to Advent Conspiracy. For the last three years I have gone to this market and walked around wishing I was a part of it, thinking to myself I could totally do this and it would be fun.  I love making art, crafts, jewelry! What I Learned Making My First Quilt

I've shared a bit about making my first quilt in my last post. Here's the front finished. And here's the back! Because yes, I chose a triangle quilt as my first venture into quilting and I definitely learned a lot during the process. It all started with Pinterest (doesn't it always) where I saw this great triangle quilt tutorial and thought, I could totally do that! I set out to get my fabric and made sure to get a little more than the pattern called for, just in case. … [Read more...]

DIY: A-Frame Tent

This past spring I decided I wanted to make a tent for my nephew's birthday. After looking around the web a bit I decided on a simple A-Frame design. The frame was very easy to make. I purchased two 1x2s that were each 8 feet long and I had them cut in half at the hardware store. Also, I purchased 3 dowel rods, 4 feet long and 1/2 inch wide. I then marked two spots on each 1x2, one about an inch one end, and another about 4 inches from the other end. I then got out my 1/2 inch drill … [Read more...]

May o’ My

Physically I've been back from our yearly family trip to Gulf Shores for almost a week now, mentally I really want to stay in vacation mode. It's been hard to snap out of it and get some things done, like work on this blog, think about the up coming school year and so on... And, to make matters even harder, it's been wonderfully rainy. All I want to do is read or think about craft projects. Is that so wrong? Oh well. I have little less than a month left before I have to go back to … [Read more...]
