Juicing and the Whole 30 Challenge

After coming back from our beach vacation this year, I wasn’t feeling my best. I had eaten out a lot more than I usually do, plus I had snacks at my finger tips I would normally never be around, and lets not mention my lack of will power. Together these made a perfect storm for fatigue, weight gain and general yuckiness.

So I decided, and Sean graciously went along with it, that we would do a juice cleanse! Exciting I know. Above is our grocery cart full of lots of fruits and veggies. One of my other friends was had already decided to do a cleanse, so we joined her on the same one. It was based of the BluePrint Cleanse, but instead of buying very expensive juices to drink for three days, we made our own. We found this great link to all of the recipes for the juices here.

Green Juice

The idea is that you drink six juices a day for three days, plus lots of water and tea if you’d like. I really liked how the juices tasted, except for the beet one, but I think that was my fault because I put in too much ginger and didn’t peel the beets very well. To make the cleanse more efficient you also need to restrict what you at three days before the juice and after, so it’s really a nine day commitment. I definitely felt better after juicing, and even lost a few pounds, but of course I didn’t stop there!

I decided to go straight from the juice cleanse into a Whole30 challenge! To be continued…
