Gifts That Give Back – 2013

The Holidays are here and I’ve rounded up some of my favorite stores that also give back to others. Over the last year I have found so many new companies selling great products that empower others and finically support some wonderful non-profits. Many of these shops are also having Cyber Monday Sales, so take a look around for some wonderful gift ideas!

She Does Justice – Megan over at She Does Justice makes fun accessories for women and children. Each month a different charity or cause is selected and at least 10% of the profits go to help that organization. I especially love this feather scarf they have right now.
(Today’s the last day to get 25% off scarves and turban headbands!)

Amazima – I shared a bit about Amazima in last year’s Gifts that Give Back round up. I can’t help but sing their praises again! Sean got me one of their necklaces for Christmas last year and I cried when I opened it. I don’t think I’ve ever cried about a gift before, but after reading Katie’s book and learning more about the organization I felt so honored to be wearing one of the necklaces the Ugandan ladies had created. I almost always get comments or questions about it when I wear it. It’s been a great conversation starter. I love the rich color of this purple necklace.
(Today only get 25% off your purchase or necklaces and bracelets!)

Fashion ABLE – I’ve also written about FashionABLE before. They work to create sustainable businesses in Africa. I love their scarves! They’re all so pretty, go check them out.

Bintidesigns – I found out about Binti Designs at this year’s Influence Conference. 15% of the profits from this shop go back into Micro finance loans for Kenyan Women. I know more scarves…I think I may have a problem. I love the pom-poms on many of these designs!

Better Life Bags – This fall at the Influence Conference I purchased a Better Life Bag and I love it! Better Life Bags is located in low income area of Detroit and employes women who cannot otherwise get jobs. They have beautiful pre made bags or you can order a fully customized bag with the fabric and leather of your choice. Whenever I need a new bag… I want to design my own ‘Carrie’.
(Quite a few of their ready-to-ship bags are on sale right now!)

So when you’re sharing gifts with the ones you love this season, think about sharing wonderful gifts that also give back to others! Do you know some great companies that are also giving back this season? I’d love to learn about them!
