Art Market Awesomeness!

Last Saturday I had a wonderful time at the Elder Street Art Market!  I have gone to this market for the last few years and have always thought to myself, "I should do this."  So, this year I took the plunge and reserved my booth in October.  I think I really decided to do the market after I went to the Influence Conference in September though.  Seeing what others had created and listening to their inspiring stories at the conference helped me stop making excuses and start moving … [Read more...]

T-minus 4 Days Til the Elder Street Art Market

Preparations are going well, but I still have lots to do for the up coming Art Market! Tomorrow, and over the next few days I hope to post some previews of what I'm going to be selling at the Elder Street Art Market here in Houston. First I wanted to share the "Why" behind me doing this art market. This video pretty much sums it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IN0W3gjnNE 20% of all the proceeds made at the Art Market will be going to Advent Conspiracy that in turn goes to Living Water … [Read more...]

The Elder Street Art Market!

Yep, mark your calendars for December 7th, 2013 everyone.  I did it!  I just signed up for a booth at the Elder Street Art Market! Every year my church, Ecclesia Houston, hosts an Art Market at the beginning of December and 20% of all of vendor's profits go to Advent Conspiracy. For the last three years I have gone to this market and walked around wishing I was a part of it, thinking to myself I could totally do this and it would be fun.  I love making art, crafts, jewelry! But I let the … [Read more...]

Easter Celebrations!

I hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday. The weather here in Houston on Sunday morning was beautiful for Ecclesia's outdoor services. Sean and I had a wonderful time passing around hot cross buns, seeing dear friends, and making some new ones! During the Good Friday service at Ecclesia we participated in a community art project were the congregation drew or wrote a confession on a paper and then collaged them to large boards. The boards were on display during the service, creating a … [Read more...]

May Garden Update

I was up early this morning and took advantage of the cooler temperatures to take some more pictures of the garden. Houston has been blessed this year with a mild spring and which I think has really helped the plants have a great start. We have bell peppers, poblanos and jalapenos coming in. There are lots of green tomatoes, these ones are cherry tomatoes! I can't wait until they've ripened. I've already eaten two eggplant and I have a least four more coming in. We have some … [Read more...]

Houston Love!

This is what I did this morning as a header for a possible new blog. Having time off from work is fun. Now off to more pressing maters like cleaning out my garden. So many weeds, yikes! … [Read more...]

Advent is Here!

I hope everyone is having a great first Sunday of Advent. Scott Erickson is the artist in residence at Ecclesia, and a few weeks ago he gave the congregation an Advent art assignment. I was excited to have an art assignment of my own, as I am usually the one doing the assigning. The church had pre-cut MDF squares, about 20 x 20 in, to make their own piece of art if they wanted to participate. This is what I came up with. I started out by gluing torn paper to my board. Sean then helped … [Read more...]
