January’s 30 Acts of Kindness Roundup

This month I purposed to do two acts of kindness. First I decided to write thank you notes! There have been many people in my life that have loved, encouraged, or pushed me, molding me into the person I am today. I often think of them in certain situations and am filled with gratitude for the time they invested in me. But, rarely do I get the chance to tell them. So instead of just thinking about how thankful I am for their influence in my life, I decided to write them thank you letters. … [Read more...]

30 Acts of Kindness

One of my goals for this year is to be more deliberate in serving others. Turning thirty, going through old photos, and being nostalgic has really reinforced how blessed I am. There have been many times when others have done small (and big) things that have made my day and brought me so much joy. I really want to share those same things with others. So, I have to decided to decree this Sarah's 30 Acts of Kindness year! I was just going to make it 30 acts of kindness for the month … [Read more...]

Thirty Years of Being Sarah!

So, it's my Birthday. My thirtieth to be exact. Surprisingly the number hasn't really scared me or made me anxious. Twenty-nine was pretty great, so I have high hopes for my thirties! (1984-1987: Shortly after I was born to my Third Birthday) I have been feeling a little nostalgic though and over the last week I've been combing through old photos. I was having such a great time I decided to scan some from each year of my life and make a little pictorial timeline. I might be the only … [Read more...]

A Little Bit of Christmas Cheer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday this year. The lights didn't go out on Christmas day, so ours was a little less adventurous than last year's, but still very nice. Sean had to work for a few hours Christmas day, which was kind of a bummer. However, we decided to push back Christmas dinner to 5'ish instead of the usual 1 or 2, which made cooking dinner seem less stressful than it had in years past. Or, it might just have been I have one more year of cooking Christmas dinner … [Read more...]

Gifts That Give Back – 2013

The Holidays are here and I've rounded up some of my favorite stores that also give back to others. Over the last year I have found so many new companies selling great products that empower others and finically support some wonderful non-profits. Many of these shops are also having Cyber Monday Sales, so take a look around for some wonderful gift ideas! She Does Justice - Megan over at She Does Justice makes fun accessories for women and children. Each month a different charity or … [Read more...]

More Gratefulness!

I just finished my third week of practicing daily gratitude and it's amazing how I've started to look for the good in my everyday life. I've always been blessed and I thought I was good at recognizing it, but I feel even more cognizant of it now. Little details, small moments and big gestures, they are filling my life more joy now that I am looking for them. Here's the run down on #GratefulNovember week 3! Day 15 Last weekend was full of photography sessions and the weather … [Read more...]

A Grateful November Update

I'm so glad I decided to take the #GratefulNovember challenge. Some days I feel thankful for practically everything, and other days I have to dig deep. But, the longer I practice, the easier it is to be filled with gratitude! Day 8 I'm grateful my in-laws take the time to schedule dinner dates with us! It's always nice to share a meal and catch up with them. Day 9 Sean and I both have busy evening schedules right now, so it's nice when we can both slow down and relax … [Read more...]

Grateful November

Lara Casey posted this on Instagram on November first. I had been thinking about trying to do some kind of daily challenge for the month of November, and I knew I needed to keep it simple, and this challenge fulfilled my criteria so I decided to go for it! I'm so glad I did. This month has been busy, and next week only looks busier, but the exercise of focusing on what I'm grateful for each day helps me stay centered. Day 1 I'm grateful for my best friend and husband. We have … [Read more...]

Remember when I went to the Beach?

Some how these photos got lost in the mix over the last few months, but as it's been a gray day here I'd thought I'd bring in a little sunshine. In July we had our annual family gathering in Gulf Shores, AL. Sean and I were lucky enough to be able to spend over a week there this year! Above are some instagram highlights. Can you tell we take the our time at the beach very seriously. Seriously eating donuts, playing dominos, visiting the local Soda Fountain, and seriously enjoying … [Read more...]
