Grateful November

Lara Casey posted this on Instagram on November first. I had been thinking about trying to do some kind of daily challenge for the month of November, and I knew I needed to keep it simple, and this challenge fulfilled my criteria so I decided to go for it! I'm so glad I did. This month has been busy, and next week only looks busier, but the exercise of focusing on what I'm grateful for each day helps me stay centered. Day 1 I'm grateful for my best friend and husband. We have … [Read more...]

Busy Good, Busy Bad

It's been a good busy these last few weeks. I'm really enjoying a steady stream of photography sessions. Such as this fun family in my latest family session. Yet, I've also had time to work on some of my art for the upcoming market. Here a few new Paper Mache animal heads in the beginning stages. I do need to make more concrete weekly and daily goals with my creating though, as the date is drawing closer. I'm really enjoying my school year and am having a great time being … [Read more...]

Shop FashionABLE and Their Third Anniversary Sale!

If you haven't already heard FashionABLE has 30% off their entire stock through tomorrow! They are celebrating their third anniversary of empowering women in Africa to support their families and be a vital part of their local economy. I love their scarves, as I pointed out last year, and they now also have a wonderful line of leather goods. I got to see many of these products in person at the Influence Conference, and the craftsmanship beautiful. The holidays will be here … [Read more...]

The Elder Street Art Market!

Yep, mark your calendars for December 7th, 2013 everyone.  I did it!  I just signed up for a booth at the Elder Street Art Market! Every year my church, Ecclesia Houston, hosts an Art Market at the beginning of December and 20% of all of vendor's profits go to Advent Conspiracy. For the last three years I have gone to this market and walked around wishing I was a part of it, thinking to myself I could totally do this and it would be fun.  I love making art, crafts, jewelry! But I let the … [Read more...]

The Nester’s 31 Day Challenge

I found out about The Nester's 31 Day Challenge while I was at the Influence Conference. I know, where have I been? She gave a challenge to write a blog post on one topic for everyday in October. I've loved finding some new blogs that are doing the challenge and following along with some old favorites. Here are some links to a few of my favorite 31 Day challenges so far: All Glorious Within - Figuring Out the Pieces Green Eggs and Hammes - 31 Days of Life in the Kitchen The Balanced Wife - … [Read more...]

The Influence Conference 2013: Recap (It’s Going to Get Real)

I've been sitting on this post since Monday debating what it was going to become. I was very tempted to just tell you how wonderful the conference was, and that'd be oh so true, but that wouldn't be the whole truth. First of all, if you were wondering what I am talking about, the Influence Network is a fabulous network of Christian women who are striving to use their blogs, small businesses and social media to the glory of God. This past weekend in Indianapolis they hosted a conference … [Read more...]

The Influence Conference!!!

I'm excited for tomorrow because I'm headed off to the Influence Conference! I've never been to a conference like this before and truthfully I'm excited and super nervous. Excited to meet new people and make new friends, nervous because the introvert inside of me is quaking in my boots. While I'm there, I hope to learn a lot about how to better use my blog, and my love for art and creativity. I'll try to keep you posted, so stay tuned to my Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for … [Read more...]

Hot Cross Buns

For the last couple of years hot cross buns have become part of our Easter morning tradition. Our church has one combined outdoor service for Easter and everyone is encouraged to bring food to share with others before and after the service. Hot cross buns are a simple spiced bread with currants that make a tasty breakfast that's easy to share. Hot cross buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday in England, but because of my schedule, and usually what I have given up for lent, I have been … [Read more...]

Red Lentil Coconut Curry Stew

It's been over two weeks now since the beginning of the Lenten season, and I talked briefly about what I did for Lent last year, but I wanted to share more throughout the season this year. In recent years I have become more interested in the practice of fasting as part of my Christian walk. I never really had much exposure to fasting growing up but I like how abstaining from something becomes a call to prayer, something of which I would like to do more. Last year Sean and I decided to … [Read more...]

Recent Reading: Kisses from Katie

I read this book this past summer and have been meaning to share it with you. During November I am mindful for that which I am thankful. I am so thankful for this book! Do you see that exclamation point? I don't use it flippantly here, because Katie's book was such an eye-opening blessing to me. Katie Davis went to Uganda to teach preschool for a year after she finished high school, and is still there to this day doing a great work to love and aid the Ugandan people. She is open and … [Read more...]
