DIY: Swedish Easter Trees

Hello everyone!  It's been too long. I'm hopping back on the blogging train with a fun DIY that would work great for your Easter table centerpiece. Through my church I recently met a woman who told me, as a child growing up in Sweden, people would decorate their homes around Easter with birch branches that had colorful feathers attached.  These are such a simple and cheerful way to bring color to your Easter table. To start, I gathered the materials:  some branches I found on a walk, … [Read more...]

DIY: Ikea Sindal Door Mat Hack

It's been too long since I've shared a DIY project, and I thought an Ikea project would be a great place to start!  I bought this Sindal Door Mat for just over five bucks this summer. Here's a close up from the Ikea site of what the door mat looks like without anything done to it. I used painters tape, a can of spray paint, a few colors of craft paint, and a stiff brush. All items I had around the house from other projects I'd done. Also, from start to finish the project only took me … [Read more...]

Random Acts of Kindness Week!

Next week, February 10th through the 16th, is Random Acts of Kindness Week. What a great opportunity for me to work on my 30 Acts of Kindness! I heard about RAOK week over at Lil Blue Boo. I just love what she and her daughter did last year to spread joy and kindness in their community. Head over to her site to see the awesome video of what they did. Need some more ideas? Here are some of my favorite sites I've found that are inspiring me to act in kindness! Check out these 26 … [Read more...]

January’s 30 Acts of Kindness Roundup

This month I purposed to do two acts of kindness. First I decided to write thank you notes! There have been many people in my life that have loved, encouraged, or pushed me, molding me into the person I am today. I often think of them in certain situations and am filled with gratitude for the time they invested in me. But, rarely do I get the chance to tell them. So instead of just thinking about how thankful I am for their influence in my life, I decided to write them thank you letters. … [Read more...]

30 Acts of Kindness

One of my goals for this year is to be more deliberate in serving others. Turning thirty, going through old photos, and being nostalgic has really reinforced how blessed I am. There have been many times when others have done small (and big) things that have made my day and brought me so much joy. I really want to share those same things with others. So, I have to decided to decree this Sarah's 30 Acts of Kindness year! I was just going to make it 30 acts of kindness for the month … [Read more...]

Goal Setting for the New Year

Instead of just jumping right into things this year I've decided to slow down and re-focus during the month of January. With a very busy Holiday season and being out of town for a week, I haven't had the time or head-space to really think about my goals for 2014. But, I received Lara Casey's Powersheets for Christmas (thank you Danielle!), and I've been working on them this past week and hope to finish before the weekend. I love them so far! They are hard work, but can't wait to see how they … [Read more...]

Thanks Apartment Therapy!!!

Woohoo! I was super excited last night when a friend informed me my DIY Paper Mache Fox Head Tutorial was featured in one of Apartment Therapy's recent posts! Above is a more detailed photo of my most recent fox before he went on to his new home. The fox, giraffe and lamb where definitely the most talked about heads at the Art Market. I'm so grateful for all of the positive feedback I've gotten! I'll be working on some new heads over the holidays, so stay tuned for updates on my … [Read more...]

Art Market Awesomeness!

Last Saturday I had a wonderful time at the Elder Street Art Market!  I have gone to this market for the last few years and have always thought to myself, "I should do this."  So, this year I took the plunge and reserved my booth in October.  I think I really decided to do the market after I went to the Influence Conference in September though.  Seeing what others had created and listening to their inspiring stories at the conference helped me stop making excuses and start moving … [Read more...]

T-minus 4 Days Til the Elder Street Art Market

Preparations are going well, but I still have lots to do for the up coming Art Market! Tomorrow, and over the next few days I hope to post some previews of what I'm going to be selling at the Elder Street Art Market here in Houston. First I wanted to share the "Why" behind me doing this art market. This video pretty much sums it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IN0W3gjnNE 20% of all the proceeds made at the Art Market will be going to Advent Conspiracy that in turn goes to Living Water … [Read more...]

Busy Good, Busy Bad

It's been a good busy these last few weeks. I'm really enjoying a steady stream of photography sessions. Such as this fun family in my latest family session. Yet, I've also had time to work on some of my art for the upcoming market. Here a few new Paper Mache animal heads in the beginning stages. I do need to make more concrete weekly and daily goals with my creating though, as the date is drawing closer. I'm really enjoying my school year and am having a great time being … [Read more...]
